To exclude specific file areas from the comparison, turn on the Enable Section toggle. If you don’t want to use this option, turn off the Enable Section toggle.


Exclude Pages

You can exclude specific pages from the comparison. 

  1. Click Add Exclusion Page.
  2. Enter the page(s) to exclude. You can enter a page number (e.g. 2), a page range (e.g. 3-5), or a list of pages (e.g. 1, 3, 6).
  3. Choose whether to exclude the page from the Original file (on the left side of the comparison), Both files, or the Modified file (on the right side of the comparison).
  4. To remove an excluded page, hover over the page and click .


Exclude Area

You can exclude specific areas on the page from the comparison. For example, you might want to exclude a logo that appears at the top of every page.

  1. Click Add Exclusion Area.
  2. Enter the location where the excluded area will start. The X Value is the position relative to the left side of the page, and the Y Value is the position relative to the top of the page.

For example, to define an area that starts 1 inch from the left side of the page and 2 inches from the top of the page, use X Value = 1 and Y Value = 2.

       3. Enter the area’s Width and Height in inches.

       4. Choose whether to exclude the page from the Original file (on the left side of the comparison), Both files, or the 

Modified file (on the right side of the comparison).

       5. To remove an excluded item, hover over the item and click


Exclude via Regex

You can exclude specific words and phrases from the comparison. For example, you could exclude “the” or “as a matter of fact”. Excluded words and phrases are case-sensitive. For example, the exclusion “the” will not exclude instances of “The”.

You can also use regular expressions to exclude words or phrases based on a pattern. For example, you could exclude words that start with the letter “z” or exclude all capital letters.

  1. Click Add Exclusion Regex.
  2. Enter the word, phrase, or regular expression.
  3. Choose whether to exclude the page from the Original file (on the left side of the comparison), Both files, or the Modified file (on the right side of the comparison).
  4. To remove an excluded item, hover over the item and click .


Exclude Header

You can exclude all page headers from the comparison.

  1. Click Exclude Header. The header is added to the Exclude Areas area.
  2. Modify the header’s position (X Value and Y Value) and size (Width and Height) if necessary.
  3. Choose whether to exclude the page from the Original file (on the left side of the comparison), Both files, or the Modified file (on the right side of the comparison).
  4. To remove the header from the excluded areas, hover over the area and click .


Exclude Footer

You can exclude all page footers from the comparison.

  1. Click Exclude Footer. The footer is added to the Exclude Areas area.
  2. Modify the footer’s position (X Value and Y Value) and size (Width and Height) if necessary.
  3. Choose whether to exclude the page from the Original file (on the left side of the comparison), Both files, or the Modified file (on the right side of the comparison).
  4. To remove the footer from the excluded areas, hover over the area and click .
