You can choose to promote a revision to a version. This creates a new version of the file. For example, if you have made significant changes to a document, you may want to create a new version based on your changes.
Activities like workflows, and events are linked with file versions but not with revisions (unless specified using scripting), which is another reason you may want to promote a revision to a version.
To promote to a revision to a version hover hover any revision and click New version from revision.
